Shakeology® is a nutritional supplement created by a company called Beachbody®. Beachbody is a health and fitness company which creates some of the top in-home fitness programs on the market. Maybe you are familiar with their popular infomercials for products such as P90X, CHALean Extreme, or Hip Hop Abs. Besides having awesome fitness programs, they also produce some top quality nutritional supplements with Shakeology being one of their top sellers.
Using Shakeology as a Meal Replacement
If I had to describe Shakeology in the simplest terms, I would call it a "healthy meal in a glass." It is often used as a meal replacement to aid in weight loss. However, it can be used as a daily snack or as a way to supplement vitamins, minerals, as well as antioxidants.
The ingredients are massive - 70 ingredients in one serving. It is said that you would have to visit a salad bar 5 times to equal the nutrition in one serving of Shakeology.
I am currently using Shakeology as a meal replacement to help myself reach my goal weight. What I love about it, besides all of the healthy ingredients, is the taste. So far I have only tried the chocolate flavor and it just blew me away. Unlike other powdered drinks on the market, this one doesn't have a weird aftertaste.
I typically blend it with either water or milk and about 4 to 5 ice cubes. The ice turns it into a frothy milkshake and it's so delicious that way. You can use any beverage of your choice such as skim milk, water, soy milk, almond milk, etc. You can also be creative and add fruit, peanut butter, or boost the health benefits with added fiber powder.
After a 90-day study, the average weight loss of participants that used Shakeology as a meal replacement was 10 pounds. Other results included reduced cholesterol levels, improved mental clarity, increased energy and stamina.

What Shakeology is Not
Shakeology may be confused as a protein shake. While it does contain protein as well as essential amino acids, it is not considered a protein shake. Most people who are seeking a larger amount of protein in their diets by incorporating a supplement are doing so to aid in recovery between workouts. This is typical for those who strength train or bodybuild.
I consider Shakeology as a way to supplement your nutrition. Besides using it as a meal replacement for helping to lose weight, I plan on drinking it as an in between snack and use it as a multivitamin as well. If I had to choose a favorite ingredient (which is difficult) I would have to say it is the super-fruit blend.
The super-fruit blend contains items such as goji berry, acai, and more. It would be difficult to find another product that contains antioxidants, protein, and more - as well as tasting delicious.

If you are looking at it for a meal replacement shake (which as far as ingredients, it is a great shake), then it may be worth it to you for a 30-day supply.
If you are just seeking a healthy alternative to replace, let's say drinking coffee every morning, or simply as a good snack in between meals, then it could be a great value when you consider it for health reasons.
You can also look at it from the standpoint of breaking down the cost per day. On average, it comes out to about $3 - $4 a shake.
Compare that to what is spent a day on coffee drinks and "healthy" juice smoothies. Some people spend that much on beverages which aren't close to being healthy.
The Average Joe buys a big tub of folgers coffee grounds and filters for ten bucks....so 240 cups of coffee devided by 10 bucks....24 cents a cup.....don't buy into the starbucks scam
Eartha is right on when she talks about how affordable Shakeology really is. For what you get with this meal replacement shake, you are getting more bang for your buck than you even realized. It is by far the best tasting and healthiest meal of the day. Take some time and see for yourself how amazing this product really is.
Tried it for one month. It totally killed my sex drive, I had zero results, and they don't tell you that to buy it for $90, it's really $110, because you have to pay for the website every month and taxes too. Went off of it and my sex drive is back to normal 3 days later. Goodbye shakeology.
Sex has improved for me. Everything has improved for me as a result of consuming Shakeology: my blood pressure, my energy, my sleep, my alertness, sex, ...

(@ p90xcoachmark ... Wow...a P90X Coach who loves shakeology! thats a shocker.) I just tried the chocolate and have to say i was disappointed with the taste. Maybe i need to do the blender with ice and peanut butter idea because the taste of this stuff just mixed with ff milk was not good. i only got through half of it. i do have a weird burning aftertaste after an hour, as if i had eaten something spicy. ??hmm.
I just got my order yesterday. I got the Chocolate one. Hmmm, it is GOOD! And I love sweets BUT, it is just wayy tooooo sweeeeett! I mixed it with milk and ice the first time, but today I used more milk, water, ice and peanut butter and that subdued the sweetness. I will try more recipes for sure... I think I will like this product. An hour after I used it yesterday, I was able to function with more energy and I also did an extra workout. I was not hungry until Dinner time either.
I live in Canada, so its even more expensive for me to buy it up here. I think I will continue to use this product as well, but next time I will order the Greenberry one.
If it kills my sex drive, I am going to be super mad! But, my Fiance is pretty much a knockout so... I don't think that could possibly happen!
why isn't it dairy free?
I normally HATE any sort of meal replacement but I have to say this one was great. MadGreek, the recipe that I use for my FAVORITE drink is this. 1 scoop of shakeology chocolate, 8 regular ice cubes, 1 tbsp pure almond butter, 1/2 cup cold decaf mocha coffee (brew a pot on Sunday night and just keep in the fridge), 1/2 cup of cold water 2 tbsps low fat plain vanilla yogurt. I LOVE it this way and I shared the same recipe with a couple of friends of mine who have become very fond of it as well.
I wasn't so sure about Shakeology. There are a lot of other meal replacement shakes out there for less cost, like Body By Vi, then I saw all the nutrition in this shake - kinda of amazing. check out how it compares http://healthiershake.com/
