Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum
The vacuum pictured above is the Hoover WindTunnel which is an electronic, bagless canister vacuum. It has received excellent reviews on Amazon.com. Check them out below:
I'm in search of my next vacuum cleaner and frankly, I am somewhat fed up with the ones I have purchased in the past. The last two I've purchased were both upright and bagless. They worked great in the beginning, but over time, both eventually lost suction. Now I'm considering a canister vacuum cleaner versus the upright vacuums I am accustomed to.
My two biggest issues are suction and being able to clean in hard-to-reach areas. Uprights come with more tools now but I've been disappointed with the lack of power over time. I'm hoping that a decent canister vac will last much longer and offer more tools, particularly for cleaning corners on the floor as well as the ceiling.
Now that we have a cat, it would be nice to have a vacuum that can tackle all of the cat hair that gets all over the floor and furniture. It is amazing how much cat hair gets around and we only have one cat!
Pros of a Canister Vac
So why would you consider a canister vacuum? Don't they work the same as an upright? Well, there are some slight differences. Canister vacs are better known for the amount of tools they come with. They are better suited for cleaning those hard to reach areas like corners and they do well on stairs. These vacuums are also better suited for hardwood floors. Another plus is that they run much quieter than the standard upright.
The fact that they clean harder to reach areas is a big plus for me. Yes, some uprights come with cleaning tools but of the ones I've tried, none were that effective when trying to vacuum up dust balls and cob webs from ceiling and floor corners. It was always a hassle. I think since canister vacuums are known for their cleaning tools, it will be a lot easier.
Cons of a Canister Vac
The biggest con for most people would be the price. Canister vacuums are much more expensive than the typical upright. They are also not as easy to store away as an upright. Some may even be heavier than the typical vacuum which may be an issue for some people. However, the ease of use may win out over an upright as well as suction power depending on the brand you choose. I highly suggest reading both the positive and negative reviews before making a decision.
So far, I like what I've been reading about the canister vacs. Unless I can find an upright with great reviews, the canister vacuum looks like a winner.
